You and several classmates have formed a human resource consulting company. You have
recently been hired to provide training to the sales force for an automobile dealership. As
part of your preparation for this consulting engagement, you and your team members must
determine how best to approach the automobile dealership to engage the interest of the
decision makers. Your part of this assignment is to propose the types of needs assessment
tools that could be used to determine how to design and develop the automobile
dealership’s training programs. These assessment tools could include software, models, or
analysis methods. Once you complete your needs assessment, you must now meet with the
owner of the dealership to discuss the needs assessment.
From the perspective of a team member, write a 3-4 page needs assessment process in
which you do the following:
1. Develop an outline that details the process your team will use to conduct a needs
assessment for the clients training program, support your decisions with academic
resources.
a. Review Chapter 4 on needs assessments. It discusses different types of
assessments. Select the best one(s) to use to gather information. Keep in mind
that you are trying to find out the organizations needs related to their sale force.
Hence, you need to outline the method you are going to use to gather
information and make a recommendation to management on what type of
training may be required. Use this information in conjunction with your research
from the Week 3 discussion.
2. Identify two possible constraints to your needs assessment approach, explain how the
constraints will be overcome.
a. The text also discusses obstacles to conducting a needs assessment, such as time,
cost, leadership buy-in, and employee willingness to participate. The most
common are time to conduct a thorough assessment and cost. You should
mention the others briefly as supporting information.
3. Evaluate the feasibility of the needs assessment approach based on what is commonly
done in the field, discuss your findings.
a. Feasibility is the likelihood your process would happen in this industry. Is your
process a standard practice?
4. Explain why the needs assessment is critical to the development of the training program
you plan to deliver.
a. Your goal here is to answer what can happen if you develop training without
understanding the training needs and why it is important to determine the issues

This assignment provides you an opportunity to demonstrate mastery of course outcomes:
Select metrics that are aligned with the organization’s objectives in order to ensure organizational success
Formulate a plan for implementing a total rewards program in order to ensure success of the program
In this assignment, you will write and present a MS PowerPoint Presentation that describes and justifies the total rewards metrics that you propose. The course material provides examples of metrics and how they are used to evaluate the effectiveness of the Total Rewards Program. These metrics will used as a portion of the final paper due Week 8 (the final assessment for the class). Feedback from the instructor may require some revision to the chosen metrics prior to use in the final paper. At least three scholarly references from the course materials are to be presented in APA format, as well as respective in-text citations and relevant Web site documentation if information about the organization is taken from a Web site.
You will define the term metrics, explain how metrics are used to evaluate the success of the total rewards program, identify, describe, and provide examples of at least three metrics and share how you will collect the data for each metric and how you will set the benchmark or goal target for each that you would use to compute and analyze the Total Rewards Program in the organization you are studying in the course. Justification for the metrics linked to the organizational objectives, requisite competencies, and challenges should also be included.
At the least, the presentation will include the following segments:

Background: Judith and Eric Sultan own a business providing HR decision-making expertise to employers across the nation. The name of their business is HRM Analysis Services. Their business is located in Phoenix and has grown exponentially since 2005. Up to this point they have not had their own employees, but instead hired established consultants (often called management analysts) to work on a project-by-project basis.
They want to hire three full-time management analysts to work in three different locations: San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Miami. The analysts would scout out work in their designated regions and manage the contracting and oversight of contractual consultants.
Judith and Eric plan to keep ownership of the company, but want to step away from the day-to-day as soon as the business is working well enough without them.
The focus of this assignment is to assist Judith and Eric with the selection of three Management Analysts by coming up with a weighted formula of important selection factors. Your task is to:
Develop a formula to quantify the merits of each applicant based on the factors provided. Justify why you gave heavier weight to some factors over others.
Develop your own visual/graphic showing how each applicant fared.
Discuss your visual/graphic in essay format.
Recommend 6-8 applicants to proceed to a panel interview phase.
Critique the process of identifying best candidates to proceed in a selection process by using a custom-designed formula applied to each candidate.
Use at least 3 library sources to help strengthen your discussion. Reference all material cited.
Your paper plus table(s) should be at least 4-5 pages (not including cover sheet and reference page).
