Welcome to class! This reflection has two purposes- 1. Allow for introductions and community building, 2. Disucuss Mental Health. Background- Millions of Americans suffer from depression, anxiety or some other form of mental illness. These “psychosocial problems” affect all areas of wellness and have a huge impact on the lives of those who are struggling. Unfortunately, mental illnesses (in any capacity) are still somewhat of a taboo topic in our society today. In other words, it would be much easier for most individuals to tell their friends they had been diagnosed with diabetes, than it would depression. Instructions- Watch the following videos. Based upon the current chapter readings/lectures, personal experiences, world view, and media/resources provided, you must comment on the specific reflection prompts provided- reflecting on how they relate to the weekly topic(s) and current society. Posts should be thoughtful, insightful, and a minimum of 250-500 words. These posts should add significant substance to the conversation and clearly reference (i.e. cite) information from current chapter readings/lectures (please follow current APA guidelines for your in-text citations and references).
